What is MonsterWriter

This desktop application has been available for a few years now, with the goal of making academic paper writing as easy as possible. To generate PDFs, it uses LaTeX and provides several templates for users to choose from. However, it is not a LaTeX editor, but rather a distraction-free "what you see is what you mean" block editor. It also supports exporting to HTML and Markdown formats.

Some of the main features of this application include the ability to provide citations for references using a DOI, ISBN, or ARXIV number. Users can also change the citation style of the entire document with just one click, and there is Zotero integration. Additionally, users can create cross-references, add inline and block equations, and include captions for images and diagrams.

I highly encourage you to try out this desktop application and explore all of its features. In addition to the ones mentioned above, you may discover other useful tools that can make your academic writing process even smoother. Whether you're a student, researcher, or professional, this application can help you produce high-quality academic papers with ease. Give it a try and see for yourself!

A browser version (SaaS) that allows you to edit and export your documents directly in the browser will be released in a few days. This version will provide most of the features that the desktop version offers and pave the way for a new set of features, including real-time collaboration, document history, and cross-device access.

If you find any missing feature in the desktop or browser version, please feel free to submit a feature request.
